Privacy Policy
1. Introduction
Welcome to MD Toolbox. This Privacy Policy explains how Paul Lonauer ("we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, discloses, and safeguards your information when you use our MD Toolbox application through the Onshape App Store. We are committed to protecting your personal data and respecting your privacy in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and applicable EU laws.
2. Data We Collect
We may collect and process the following data about you:
- Account Information: When you log in via Onshape using OAuth2, we receive basic profile information such as your name, email address, and Onshape user ID.
- CAD Data & Metadata: To provide our services (such as Assembly Analytics and Batch Export), the application temporarily accesses and processes CAD data, metadata, and assembly structures from your Onshape account.
- Configuration Data: We store user preferences and tool configurations you explicitly save within the application (e.g., naming rules, color definitions) to provide a consistent experience across sessions.
- Usage Data: We may collect anonymous, aggregated usage statistics to monitor performance and improve our services.
3. How We Use Your Data
We use the information we collect primarily to:
- Provide, operate, and maintain the MD Toolbox application.
- Authenticate your access via the Onshape API.
- Process your CAD models as requested by you (e.g., generating STEP files or auditing assemblies).
- Save your user preferences and application settings.
- Respond to your support requests or customer service inquiries.
4. Data Storage and Security
We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to ensure a level of security appropriate to the risk of processing your personal data. We do not persistently store your geometric CAD data. CAD data is only processed in memory or temporarily cached to perform the requested operations, after which it is discarded or delivered back to you as a download. Authentication tokens and user preferences are stored securely in our database.
5. Sharing Your Data
We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal identification information to others. We only share information with third parties in the following limited circumstances:
- Service Providers: We may share data with trusted third-party hosting and infrastructure providers who assist us in operating our application, subject to strict confidentiality agreements.
- Legal Requirements: If required by law, court order, or governmental regulation, we may disclose your information to relevant authorities.
